Positional Summary

This position is about providing a high level of support in the organisation’s Data Analytics initiatives to support the staff throughout the college in operational, compliance and strategic areas. This will involve advanced SQL Development skills with SSIS, SSRS and SSAS using SQL Server 08/12/14 to perform data acquisitions and data management activities. The position will be foundational to the goal of building a Data Warehouse that will integrate the key data from our major databases. Therefore, this position requires advanced data analysis and integration skills to accomplish the strategic goals of the college.

The Institute for Positive Psychology and Education (IPPE) at Australian Catholic University is undergoing significant research intensification to position ACU as a leader in the international research arena in selected areas of strategic research interest. IPPE is led by an integrated team of world-class researchers as well outstanding mid/early career researchers and post-doctoral research fellows who currently hold a number of prestigious externally funded research grants.

We are seeking a Research Fellow to join IPPE to assist two Professors with their research. The position is designed to support their research and foster links between the successful applicant and other research programs and researchers within IPPE. As Research Fellow you will:

  • establish a quality research program
  • contribute to quality research including high-quality outputs of research aligned to ACU research priorities
  • work with and support senior academic staff while contributing independently or collaboratively in research
  • contribute to processes and share knowledge with staff and students to benefit the immediate academic team.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • a PhD in a relevant discipline
  • evidence of alignment and/or experience in research in a relevant area
  • ability to lead and co-author research publications
  • relevant demonstrated quantitative skills e.g. structural equation modelling, longitudinal data modelling, multilevel modelling.

This position involves child-related employment and a Working with Children clearance will be required.

Senior Surveys and Evaluations Officer

The Office of Strategy, Quality and Analytics team is responsible for providing high-quality decision support information to the University community. This is achieved by accessing, collating and analysing data from our own systems, as well as information and data from external sources.

The team supports, maintains and develops the institutional Data Warehouse and surveys systems to allow both self-service reporting and detailed analysis by the reporting functions within the team. The office is also responsible for managing and ensuring institutional compliance with various external regulatory reporting requirements.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Surveys and Evaluations Officer with expertise in survey design and data analysis. The position undertakes a creative and proactive role in the design, development and administration of University student evaluation surveys and national surveys including QILT and the International Student Barometer. It also manages reporting of survey outcomes to University committees and the wider University community, helping to assure the quality of the University’s teaching and learning outcomes.

This position will contribute to understanding the student voice in assisting the University to improve the student experience. The role requires strong project management skills and some analysis of both qualitative and quantitative information.

Skills and Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field or an equivalent blend of academic qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of, and skill in applying research methodologies, particularly in relation to survey design.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve problems, analyse and interpret data, clearly present results and make recommendations to Senior Management.
  • Experience in designing and implementing qualitative and quantitative approaches to evaluation and procedures for measuring and assuring teaching and learning quality.
  • Project management skills.
