Fellowships

AAIR offers two fellowships up to the value of $3,000 each. The following fellowships are offered annually:

  • The ‘Raj Sharma Fellowship’
This fellowship is offered in recognition of Raj Sharma’s influence on, and contribution to, institutional research in Australasia. It is focused on institutional research or professional development in the pursuit of institutional research knowledge; and
  • The ‘Zimmer Travel Fellowship’
This fellowship is offered in recognition of Bruce Zimmer’s contribution to AAIR, and aims to assist a member to attend an event held by an AAIR affiliate or similar organisation by contributing to associated travel costs.

Eligibility to apply1

The applicant must:

  • be a current AAIR Member with at least two years membership history
  • not be an office holder or member of the AAIR Executive Committee
  • have submitted a complete application as per the fellowship instructions2
  • be willing to act as a mentor for future fellowship applicants
  • be willing to present to the AAIR membership on their experiences while on the fellowship at the AAIR SIG Forum or AAIR Annual Forum following the completion of the fellowship
  • be willing to provide a report and presentation to be published on the AAIR website blog and in the AAIR newsletter.

Notes:

1 While the fellowships are considered stand-alone awards, consideration will also be given to applicants who wish to supplement a grant or award given to the applicant by another organisation. If an applicant wishes to top-up to cover expenses, the applicant must address all criteria of the fellowships for which they are applying, as well as provide a clear statement of the amount being sought and what expenses are not already covered by the other grant or award.

2 Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
