Business Intelligence & Analytics

The AAIR Business Intelligence & Analytics special interest group (SIG) began its life as the Data Warehousing SIG. It was raised as an idea in 2005 and officially formed in 2006 for university staff with an interest in data warehousing. Business Intelligence was later added to the SIG, and then in September 2015 it was agreed to add ‘Analytics’ as well. In 2019, the name of this SIG was simplified to Business Intelligence & Analytics and now has more than 200 subscribers from around 90 Australian and New Zealand universities and other organisations.

The Business Intelligence & Analytics SIG provides a forum for sharing of information and discussion about its use at tertiary education institutions—for the purpose of management information and decision making—of any of the following:

  • A data warehouse or similar database
  • Business intelligence tools
  • Analytics
  • Management information environments
  • Digital dashboards
  • Data quality frameworks and processes
  • Portals
