About the Position
As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will work within the University Planning and Performance team to provide advice, analysis, and interpretation of institutional information for strategic planning, institutional benchmarking, university-wide performance evaluation, and compliance reporting activities. You’ll be responsible for analysis that underpins the specification of both the data visualisation products, and ETL and warehouse prototypes.

About You
To be successful, you will possess:

  • A degree preferably in a quantitative or analytical discipline and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of data analysis, business process modeling, documentation, change management, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrable high-level analytical skills combined with the ability to communicate complex business ideas effectively to technical analysts and vice versa.
  • An ability to understand and write SQL at a level sufficient to analyse data and quality-check outcomes.
  • High-level written and oral communication skills, especially in regard to presenting statistical information
  • Experience in working both within a team and autonomously, balancing multiple responsibilities with competing deadlines.

About Us

The Planning and Service Performance Division takes a leading role in providing data for evidence-based decision making throughout the University and delivering client-focussed services in a culture of continuous improvement in keeping with the ANU Service Performance Framework.

The division integrates five key streams of interrelated work: Service Solutions; Business Intelligence and Analytics; Planning and Reviews; Performance and Institutional Research; and, Solution Delivery.

The Planning and Reviews team are higher education planning and policy experts with skills in higher education strategy, planning, governance, quality assurance and advanced analytical modelling. The team manages University strategy and planning; student and revenue planning; school reviews; and higher education policy, compliance and governance.

The opportunity

The Senior Planning Analyst will undertake complex analysis, interpretation and provision of advice associated with the performance of the ANU.

Deliver high-level data analysis, complex modelling and visual and written reports that are accurate and timely.

Work with the PSP Business Intelligence and Analytics and other business stakeholders to define and deliver new performance reporting and deliver value on existing information assets to the University.

Undertake the generation and rigorous analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and the timely production of reports.

Position overview

Reporting to the Associate Director, Planning and Reviews you will join the Planning and Reviews team, which forms part of our Planning and Service Performance division. Our division takes a leading role in providing data for evidence-based decision-making throughout the University and delivering client-focussed solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Support and promote the development and management of the University’s Planning and Performance Framework
  • Monitor and report on the University’s Key Performance Indicators
  • Undertake research and analysis to inform and guide on the management of strategic and operational plans
  • Provide support in developing models and tools to drive performance improvement
  • Ensure effective governance of business processes is maintained and remains effective

Senior Project Officer

Southern Cross University’s Office of Business Intelligence and Quality is focused on data analytics and quality assurance at the University. We are seeking a Senior Project Officer to coordinate and support the University’s reregistration application with TEQSA and related activities including committee meetings, external consultant coordination, internal interviews and supporting external reviews. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively coordinate the TEQSA reregistration project, including managing cross-functional working groups, as well as monitoring and reporting on the progress of registration
  • Extract, transform, and analyse data as required for reviews and evidence collations for the TEQSA project and related activities.
  • Create reports, briefings, and presentations, and manage supporting documentation for the project including maintaining secure file-sharing platforms and record keeping.
  • Support external and internal reviews or audits, including conducting desk research and interviews, and collation of information and evidence from cross-functional teams across the University.
  • Provide advice on evidence gaps, risks to compliance, and issues as relevant to the Director and senior management.

About you

You will be a highly experienced and dedicated Project Officer, with a passion for working with people, data, and reporting. You will have demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects in medium to large organisations and highly developed communication and stakeholder management skills to achieve the desired outcomes.

More specifically, you will have:

  • Proficiency in extracting, transforming, and analysing data for the purpose of reporting and generating insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretionary judgment, assess priorities and manage heavy workloads while maintaining accuracy.
  • Extensive experience working with a variety of computer applications, including databases and document management systems.
  • A tertiary qualification and at least 4 years of relevant work experience or equivalent.

The Market Research Manager is responsible for the development and coordination of the University’s market research activities and solutions. The Market Research Manager brings in relevant subject matter expertise to the University and is the market research specialist for the University.
