Load Management and Planning is the process of forecasting student load. From student load can be developed forecasts for revenue, admissions and space to name a few. The Load Management and Planning Special Interest Group met for the first time in August 2009 and has grown to around 95 members from Australia and New Zealand. The group provides a forum to share ideas, improve processes, build networks of colleagues, and to discuss load management and planning topics such as:
Dear Load Management SIG delegates, my name is Andrew Bradshaw and I have been involved in the higher education sector for over 30 years. During this time I have experienced the introduction of HECS in 1988 through to the Transforming the Collection of Student Information (TCSI) in 2018. Although I mainly manage the reporting of the student and staff data collections, I am also heavily involved with the load management within the university, and I am responsible for the Program Funding input in the Higher Education Information Management System (HEIMS) twice every year. The landscape for student load planning and management in the Australian context continues to shift and evolve. With ongoing possibilities for reform, review, deregulation and re-regulation for fees and places in higher education, there are a number of new potential directions for this field of work. The one thing we can be sure of is that load forecasting and load management will remain of central importance to our institutions, whatever the shape of the regulatory landscape. Would you like to contribute to this SIG? I look forward to the sharing and exchange of ideas from the Load Management and Planning SIG, and welcome you to join us at either the AAIR SIG or AAIR Forum during the year.
