With over 50+ years of collective experience* in data, higher education, consulting, and project management, we are excited to bring you our viewpoints on how to approach various data challenges within the higher education space.

These articles will include interviews from industry experts to bring a broad viewpoint on these topics.

Data Journeys

Our first chapter is about the data journey. Our definition of a data journey is the constant innovation and improvement in providing useful, relevant data to an institution to drive better decision-making. This requires constant innovation; it is not a static end goal – needs evolve, the market varies, regulation and expectations change.

The data journey that an institution undertakes is often in response to ‘pull’ or ‘push’ drivers – those that force a university to change, or those that provide an opportunity. We discuss a range of these drivers and how good quality data can affect how a university can make the most of these drivers.

We interview two executives who have made a success of their data journey: Arshad Omari, Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor at Edith Cowan University, and Kate Carruthers, Chief Data Officer at UNSW Sydney.
