Planning Officer

Role summary

As part of a team, the Planning Officer will assist with the development, implementation and continual improvement of the University’s planning, quality and risk systems.

Package

The remuneration package and other specifications for a role such as an Planning Officer may be similar to the following:

  • Salaries range from AU$90,864 to $100,868 per annum (senior roles could be higher, possibly up to $116,503)
  • Superannuation on top of this range from 9.5% to 17% depending on the university
  • HEW 8

Primary responsibilities

Primary responsibilities may include any of the following:

  • providing insights and information about student load, admission and retention patterns and trends, both within the institution and the sector
  • supporting the ongoing development, implementation, monitoring and review of the institution’s Strategic Plan
  • providing assistance and advice to schools on new course developments
  • providing ad hoc analysis and reports using reporting packages
  • developing, implementing and the continual improvement of the institution’s planning, quality and risk systems.

Key selection criteria

Key selection criteria may include:

  • a relevant degree; relevant experience; or a combination of relevant experience and education/training (senior planners may require postgraduate qualifications)
  • experience in strategic and operational planning and management across a complex organisation
  • have high level written and oral communication skills especially in regard to developing Strategic Plans and/or Load Forecasting Plans
  • demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities in order to meet often competing deadlines
  • experience in working both within a team and autonomously.

Desirable

The following may be considered desirable:

  • a broad understanding of government policies with respect to the higher education sector
  • familiarity with the IT applications used within the institution.
