Surveys Coordinator

Role summary

This role has the responsibility for the coordination, promotion, administration, analysis, and reporting of the institution’s internal and external surveys.

Package

The remuneration package and other specifications for a role such as an Surveys Coordinator may be similar to the following:

  • Salaries range from AU$71,925 to $101,597 per annum (senior roles could be higher)
  • Superannuation on top of this range from 9.5% to 17% depending on the university
  • HEW range from 6 to 8 depending on seniority

Primary responsibilities

Primary responsibilities may include any of the following:

  • coordinating, planning, promoting and administering the institution’s student evaluation of units and teachers surveys
  • managing the institution’s internal and external surveys
  • assisting the management of the institution to make evidence-based decisions on matters of strategic importance
  • analysing, developing and maintaining survey datasets
  • developing and maintaining internal survey policies and procedures
  • analysing survey data and providing timely reports for senior staff and other audiences as appropriate
  • providing advice on survey sampling and statistical techniques to ensure survey methodology is statistically valid
  • promoting techniques to achieve the highest possible response rates
  • managing incentives and prize draws to encourage survey responses.

Key selection criteria

Key selection criteria may include:

  • a relevant degree, preferably in a quantitative or analytical discipline with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • extensive experience and specialist knowledge associated with surveys
  • strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload, exercise independent judgement and work with competing demands to meet deadlines
  • recent experience in the analysis and management of surveys, and descriptive and inferential statistics
  • high level skills in the interpretation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
  • proven high level written and oral communication skills.

Desirable

The following may be considered desirable:

  • experience in the use of SPSS statistical software
  • have a broad understanding of government policies  with respect to the higher education sector
  • experience in survey design
