1. What is your job title?

I am the Senior Data Analyst in the newly formed Data Science and Insights Team at Bond University, based on the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I have been with Bond University for almost ten years, progressing through a variety of roles – from academic advising to student systems – before moving into the learning and teaching survey space in 2021. Since then, I have been supporting the development and implementation of the University’s data-driven decision-making culture, with a particular focus on internal evaluation and feedback processes.

2. Briefly, how would you describe your role in your institution?

My role centres on the coordination, administration, and analysis of internal evaluation activities, particularly Bond’s Student Satisfaction and Feedback Surveys (SSAFS). I oversee the survey lifecycle from data collection through to reporting, ensuring we capture the student voice in a meaningful and actionable way. A core part of my role involves analysing quantitative and qualitative feedback data and translating this into clear, accessible insights for stakeholders across the institution. I also contribute to broader strategic initiatives by enhancing our reporting capabilities, automating workflows, and applying data visualisation and storytelling techniques to support evidence-informed decision-making. It is both analytical and collaborative, and I really enjoy that combination!

3. What does being part of the AAIR community mean to you?

Being part of the AAIR community is an enriching experience, and I have valued the opportunity to build meaningful connections with colleagues from across the sector – whether through online discussions or in-person at the annual forums. These forums, in particular, have been a highlight, offering insights into current developments, emerging practices, and sector-wide trends, along with practical takeaways I can apply in my role.

AAIR provides a valuable platform where the latest in higher education is shared openly, making it an ideal forum for anyone looking to deepen their skills and stay informed in this area.

4. Complete this statement:
In my role, I can’t operate effectively without …

… my colleagues and the collaborative environment that we’ve built! Working in a tight-knit team within the Office of Strategy and Planning means we draw on each other’s knowledge and expertise, discuss challenges, and maintain momentum on key projects. I am especially grateful to work alongside colleagues who generously offer their time and mentorship – it has made a real difference in my development and the success of the projects I am involved with.

Personally, I have found that daily physical activity helps me maintain the energy and clarity I need to show up as my best self. Whether it’s weight training, getting my steps in, or a lunchtime social game of basketball with professional and academic colleagues (we’re a very competitive bunch!), staying active keeps me grounded and motivated.
