Welcome to the Global University Rankings Special Interest Group (SIG)—a professional community for those who lead and manage rankings submissions, analyse results, and undertake institutional benchmarking. This SIG brings together both experienced practitioners and those new to the field to share insights, exchange perspectives on methodologies, unpack data submission processes, and explore best practices that strengthen institutional performance on the global stage.
The SIG provides a space to stay informed about evolving trends, deepen our collective understanding of ranking systems, and collaborate with peers who are equally committed to enhancing university excellence worldwide.

Elvira Fonacier is Head of Performance Evaluation in the Data Analytics and Insights Unit at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She leads strategic initiatives focused on institutional performance, including rankings, benchmarking and student feedback.
With more than 20 years’ experience in higher education, Elvira specialises in program and performance evaluation, data-informed decision-making and global benchmarking. Her work supports UTS’s commitment to delivering high-quality research and education, and strengthening its global impact.

Lin Jiang is Rankings Coordinator in the Data Analytics and Insights Unit at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She manages the university’s engagement with major global academic rankings, and oversees the preparation, validation and submission of institutional data.
Lin maintains the accuracy and integrity of rankings data, analyses performance trends and provides insights to support evidence-based planning and decision-making. She works closely with faculties, business units and external rankings organisations to coordinate participation in global reputation surveys. Her work strengthens rankings processes and builds institutional data capability.
