As a Business Intelligence Specialist, you will play a key role in transforming complex data into meaningful insights that drive strategic planning and informed decision-making across the University. Working within a collaborative and innovative team, you will apply your expertise in data analysis, modelling, integration and quality assurance to develop high-quality business intelligence solutions and reporting products. You will have the opportunity to solve complex data challenges, enhance reporting capabilities and work closely with stakeholders to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions. To be successful, you will require:

• A degree in Computing, Information Systems, Data Science or a related discipline, with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience across one or more business intelligence areas, including data analysis, requirements analysis, data modelling, ETL development, data processing, data quality assurance or reference data management.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into practical technical solutions and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to analyse data, investigate issues and validate data accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly within a business intelligence environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to the University’s values.

Additional requirements for Level 8:

• A postgraduate qualification in Computing, Information Systems, Data Science or a related discipline, with a minimum of four years’ relevant experience across one or more business intelligence focus areas.
• Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server databases, data lakes, cloud-hosted data services and dimensionally modelled data warehouses.
• Relevant experience within the Australian higher education and/or vocational education and training sectors
• Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory National Criminal History check and a valid NT Working with Children clearance,

Key responsibilities:

• Create compelling, original, and engaging content tailored to our target audiences.
• Monitor and respond to social media inquiries and interactions to foster community engagement.
• Analyse social media metrics and adjust strategies to improve performance and achieve key objectives.
• Stay up-to-date with trends in social media and the education sector to ensure the organisation remains relevant and visible.

Selection criteria:

• Strong writing and content creation skills, with the ability to craft engaging and clear messages for diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with social media analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Insights, X/Twitter Analytics, LinkedIn Analytics) to track performance and improve strategies.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a passion for connecting with online communities.
• Creative thinking and ability to generate fresh ideas to engage audiences and raise awareness.
• Strong understanding of the education sector, its key issues, and how to effectively communicate with stakeholders in this space.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to the values and mission of the organisation.
