Information Analyst

Role summary

An Information Analyst provides advice, analysis and interpretation of institutional and sector-wide information for strategic planning, institutional benchmarking, university-wide performance evaluation, and compliance activities.

Package

The remuneration package and other specifications for a role such as an Information Analyst may be similar to the following:

  • Salaries range from AU$74,083 to $102,629 per annum (senior roles could be higher, possibly up to $110,581)
  • Superannuation on top of this range from 9.5% to 17% depending on the university
  • HEW range from 7 to 9 depending on seniority.

Primary responsibilities

Primary responsibilities may include any of the following:

  • providing high level data analysis
  • solving high-level analytical and complex reporting problems
  • contributing to the monitoring of the institution’s defined targets
  • delivering meaningful, actionable and intelligent data analysis
  • providing insights and direct decision-making for key senior stakeholders who rely on your findings
  • providing analysis that will be invaluable in setting the future direction of the institution
  • providing technical expertise in data analysis and the reporting of statistical information
  • liaising with key stakeholders as to their information and reporting needs across the various levels of the institution.

Key selection criteria

Key selection criteria may include:

  • a relevant degree, preferably in a quantitative or analytical discipline; relevant experience; or a combination of relevant experience and education and training
  • the ability to innovate in analytical processes, data visualisations and reporting
  • having high level analytical skills
  • having high level written and oral communication skills especially in regard to presenting statistical information
  • a demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities in order to meet often competing deadlines
  • experience in working both within a team and autonomously.

Desirable

The following may be considered desirable:

  • a broad understanding of government polices with respect to the higher education sector
  • familiarity with the IT applications used within the institution.
